He began working on the series with the Sun & Moon expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, contributing 3D illustrations for the expansion's booster packs and Sun & Moon card. Yamamoto uses the series' official 3D models as a base, utilizing photobashing and other rendering techniques to make his art for the TCG.

Yamamoto is also the character designer and sole credited artist for Pokémon Café ReMix. Unlike his earlier TCG work, Yamamoto uses a distinctive 2D style for this game. Other video games they have designed for include Monkey King: Hero is Back and Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers.
